Another notch in the belt for South Balibago Resources, Inc. (SBRI), as the company formally inked its latest franchise in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, with the signing of a 35-year Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 10 August 2018. The MOA signing proceeded from the issuance of the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution that took place the week prior, 3 August 2018. The occasion was executed by and between Hon. Mayor Niel Tupas III and BWSI Senior Vice President Criselle Alejandro, who concurrently heads SBRI as its President.
The MOA signing is particularly climactic as marketing and business development efforts to establish a water supply franchise in the municipality of Barotac Viejo has been intermittently taking place in the past few years. A 3rd class municipality that hosts a non-operational water district, the demand for a reliable, professional Level III water operator in Barotac Viejo has been strong and imminent; a dominant majority of households subsist on unimproved shallow and private wells, hand-pumps, retailers, and refilling stations. The initial program of work in Barotac consists of a deep well, and fresh pipelaying in two densely populated barangays of Poblacion and San Lucas. Proceeding from this, SBRI aspires to utilise a significant river, creeks and some groundwater assets to introduce levels of Level III service in the LGU’s 26 barangays.
Barotac Viejo represents SBRI’s 8th branch, and BWSI’s 61st branch overall. More so, with this signing and the highlyanticipated energisation of our mega-sized water treatment facilities in Jaro (Iloilo City), and Passi City in the next months, BWSI should be able to solidify further its significant presence in Iloilo.
