In a significant milestone that underscores its unwavering commitment to excellence, Balibago Waterworks System, Inc. was honored with the prestigious Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management from the Philippine Quality Award (PQA). This esteemed recognition, which mirrors the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program in the U.S., is particularly noteworthy as it aligns with one of the Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs) envisioned by our Chairman, Cristino L. Panlilio.
Among the 14 awardees for the 26th PQA Assessment Cycle, Balibago Waterworks stood out as one of the two private companies recognized, alongside 10 academic institutions and 2 government offices. This achievement highlights the company's exceptional performance in quality management, placing it among the elite organizations in the Philippines.
During the opening remarks of the award ceremony, DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual expressed his hope to see more organizations from the private sector being recognized in future cycles, emphasizing the importance of quality management in driving national development.
The journey to this recognition was marked by rigorous preparation and dedication. Balibago Waterworks successfully navigated the eligibility assessment and meticulously crafted a comprehensive 55-page application report, showcasing its commitment to quality and excellence. The company's successful submission of the report by the set deadline on June 5, 2023, was followed by thorough preparation for the assessors' visit, culminating in a three-day intensive site visit in September and October 2023.
Yesterday, July 17, 2024, Balibago Waterworks’ President, Cristina Isabelle P. Alejandro, alongside select members of the core team responsible for leading the company’s PQA application efforts, received the award at a conferment ceremony held at Heroes Hall, Malacañang, Manila. The award was presented by Ret. Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin, who serves as the Executive Secretary to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
